Generational change at thyssenkrupp System Engineering: Ingo Steinkrüger replaces Bernd Becker as CEO
- Successful path to be continued through further growth in international markets and e-mobility
- Internal succession ensures continuity in business management
Effective July 01, 2016 Ingo Steinkrüger (43) will take over as CEO of thyssenkrupp System Engineering, the system partner for all key elements of the car body and powertrain process chains in the automobile industry. Bernd Becker (61), who has led thyssenkrupp System Engineering extremely successfully since its formation, is retiring at his own request. His successor Ingo Steinkrüger has worked for 16 years in various management functions at thyssenkrupp System Engineering and its predecessor companies and is currently Head of Global Sales and Service and member of the extended management board.
In this role he has, among other things, driven the company’s stronger customer orientation worldwide. To accommodate future growth and ensure reliable and effective project management also in view of the increased international nature of the business it is also planned to create a new function of Chief Operating Officer (COO) on the management board.Jens Michael Wegmann, CEO of the Industrial Solutions business area of thyssenkrupp: “We thank Mr. Becker for his highly successful work over the years. Bernd Becker has worked for the thyssenkrupp Group since 1978. Among other things he was a managing director of thyssenkrupp Krause and thyssenkrupp Drauz Nothelfer, two predecessor companies of thyssenkrupp System Engineering. Bernd Becker managed the combination and realignment of these automotive supply businesses very successfully and laid key groundwork for the widening of the business model, for example, with the expansion of the battery technology and aerospace businesses.
thyssenkrupp System Engineering has continuously increased its sales in recent years. In fiscal year 2014/15 it generated sales of around €900 million with roughly 4,000 employees. thyssenkrupp System Engineering’s customer base includes a number of renowned automotive manufacturers in Germany and abroad as well as customers in the aerospace industry. Only a few months ago the company built a new plant in Chuansha in the southeast of Shanghai to drive the expansion of the automotive business in China. As well as body making equipment the plant in Chuansha produces assembly and test systems for the Chinese auto industry.
