Graphite BPP production

Scalable graphitic BPP production

Our BPP production lines are generally designed for 35,000 - 50,000 stacks per year and can be individually scaled according to your requirements. Using 1 Hz technology and a production rate of around one second per BPP, this corresponds to a total number of up to 20,000,000 bipolar plates per year.

In addition to planning and setting up production systems, we are also happy to support you with our network of suppliers and manufacturers in selecting suitable adhesives and sealants with the appropriate processing technology.

Production process steps

The production of graphitic bipolar plates requires a high level of technical expertise. For the production of BPP, monopolar plates (MPP) can initially be manufactured in our systems as thermoplastic or duroplastic compounds (graphite-powder mixtures). These MPPs are then deburred, cleaned with a plasma laser and inspected using a 2D / 3D camera.

Using a dispenser or doctor blade, two precisely aligned MPPs are bonded together to form a BPP. The subsequent curing of the adhesive is triggered by heat or UV radiation. A leak test is carried out to check the manufactured bipolar plates for leaks before stacking.
