New body shop plant inaugurated
Opening of the production site in Mühlacker
Fully automated production of body platforms for electric vehicles with more than 200 robots in 2019, creating around 170 new jobs. Construction project was completed in less than nine months.
On July 26, 2018, thyssenkrupp System Engineering inaugurates a new production site for electric vehicle body platforms in Mühlacker, Baden-Württemberg. Around 170 employees will find a new job on the 60,000m² site. Fully automatic production starts in Mühlacker in 2019. More than 200 robots equipped with state-of-the-art safety sensors are used for this purpose. thyssenkrupp System Engineering covers the entire body production process chain - from the design of tools and systems, through the installation and commissioning of fully automated systems, to the manufacture of prototypes and serial body production.
City councilor Dr. Jens Hanf, honorary deputy mayor, also commented on the new plant: "Mühlacker is happy that an important contribution to the mobility of the future is being made ".
The entire construction project was completed in less than nine months. Project manager Marcel Schneidewind knows the reasons: "After the official order of the contract, we chose Mühlacker from over 30 potential locations. The decision was based on the trust and joint cooperation with the customer, the representatives of the city of Mühlacker and builder greenfield development, and was very successful due to the smooth operation ".
